Understanding when your gas contract is due for renewal is essential as every year thousands of Retailers miss their window of opportunity to advise their incumbent supplier/s that they no longer wish for them to supply them or, they would like to renegotiate their utility prices. This then results in you the retailer having to go on a tariff that the supplier wishes to charge you and could be for a period of up to thirty-six months. These new non-negotiated prices could be 40% to 60% higher than your agreed contract price/s.

Utility Supply Agreements state within their Terms & Conditions that you the Retailer have a requirement to provide a Termination Notice in writing 90 days (three months) prior to your contract end date. Suppliers are obliged to inform you in writing of your Renewal Date however, it is evident that Retailers do not always receive this information and subsequently miss their renewal window and are then forced into to ‘Rollover’ contracts, which will have a financial impact on your business.
